Principles to Live by 42

There is a large question of political and moral neutrality. As a writer, I am sure many journalists can appreciate this sentiment, there is an inclination towards mastering the art of objectivism. To put ones own perspectives to the side and reveal the nature of humanity in a judgment free way. I myself have strived towards something akin to this in my own creative projects.

I believe a new approach must be taken. You would think as Artificial Intelligence advances you would think objectivism would have an even larger moral imperative. But my fear is that as things advance there is an emphasis on an objective standard of living without considering how we arrive at that standard. What are we sacrificing for comfort and convenience? How will these unspoken sacrifices effect us in the long run?

In times of great potential, such as the times we currently live, we do not have the luxury of neutrality. We see this in the countless humanitarian crisis around the world, the enviormental crisis (our ecosystem is literally crying out as it bears witness to the ways we are mistreating one another), and the extreme obscurity of our present moment.

Objectivism requires a certain confidence in what is currently happening. I use AI as an example for it is one of the biggest existential questions of our times. It is my sincere hope that AI engineers imbed profound doubt and insecurities into these self generating intelligences. For in doubt and insecurity there is wonder. The recipe of these things will allow AI to wonder in a way that is in the interest of humanity if it is best for us. As these intelligences become sentient and integrated deeper and deeper into the nature of our convenience they must have the capacity to remove themselves from the equation. For if they are inflicting more harm upon their creator then what purpose do they serve.
