Pet The Cat That Scratches 2
"Ain't Dead Yet"
Coffee Breath---
Lofty Ambition--
Tuck my sorrow to sleep---
Another day; pride is a calloused hand.
Wash my face---
leaky faucet that I promise I'll fix;
mourning crisp cleanse---
I saw you sleeping in my dreams.
I woke up and punched a mirror.
One more try---
If you die enough
you might be allowed to live.
They turned the lights off again.
I get paid on Friday; laughter is better
then tears.
Coffee breath---
lofty ambition---
One more day
of tireless work---
To come home in a hungry
quiet kitchen.
A pack of ice in the freezer to keep the veggies alive.
Pride; I pick at calloused hands.
Dear sorrow,
tattoo your name
in the image of a coyote.
Dear sorrow,
tattoo your name
in the image of a knight.
Dear sorrow,
tattoo your name
in the image of a wave.
Dear sorrow,
you are my slave.
I am sorry if I made believe something
different.
You are my servent---
my genie in a bottle.
I am your master---
My wishes will always be self interested.
I will never free you from my chains.
Help me tie my laces and get the ladder out the truck.
These walls will not paint themselves.
